Our adventures not only include backpacking and camping, but also exploring and building things around the house. This one was completely spontaneous. We want more play area outside for the Princess and also something the whole family could use. So, we built a treehouse / deck in our side yard. Our 5-year-old loves it. We love it.
Eventually, it will transform into a multilevel tree house with more posts around it, turrets, walls, etc. For now, it’s a wonderful raised deck. Plenty of room for sleeping bags, a little table and chairs (for tea, natch).
As you can see, we live in the woods. I’m actually building a Test Camp back here. That’s kind of like a test kitchen. We have a fire ring, but I need a flat spot for pitching tents. This land obviously isn’t so flat.
This is the view looking back into our property. We’re fortunate enough, for now, to have empty lots on three sides. You can see where the water streams down the hill when it rains. We’re just off to the side of that. It’ll be interesting in the rain to sit there and watch the water flow by.
She’s going to need a ladder or a set of steps. My preference is a ladder. Erika’s is steps. I am researching how I might do them with the materials at hand.
There’s plenty of room underneath for a covered play area. I can easily get under to keep it cleaned out.
I foresee this as a nice place to put a little table and chair and have a cup of coffee in the morning.
